Ten to 12 years is the normal life. Longer if you avoid all metal or foils. Today's magnetrons are very hardy. Safety shouldn't be a concern at all.
I wouldn't worry about a 25 year old microwave being unsafe unless the door seal has deteriorated. That might let some minuscule radiation escape but even then I wouldn't say it was dangerous unless you were touching the door gap with the oven running.

Why do some disposable safety razors last only one time but others from the same package are sharp for 2 weeks?
The metal used in these razors is inferior. Some disposable razors use cheaper metal than others. Cheaper metal means that they can't hold an edge as long. The better the metal, the longer the edge holds. Next month or so, when they come out with the 18-blade razor, it'll hardly matter, because each razor will only contact something to cut every month or so...

You know, I may not ask president Bush to balance my checkbook or write my speeches, but I do respect and appreciate him for keeping me safe. So I say a great big "Thank You". Come on all you supposed americans(both sides), Give it a try, learn to say thank you once in awhile instead of gimme gimme gimme or spew hate.
Are you joking? There is no president that would have cut back on defense after 9/11. But there are plenty who would have listened to intelligence prior to the attacks. Bush's actions have made this country far less safe. The only problem is that when his actions bite us in the as$, Obama will be in office and will take the blame. Keep spitting the same rhetoric, it won't make it true. Bush was the worst president since Nixon, the only one close to Bush was Reagan.

Homemade burgers on the grill. Must have been bad ground beef. Sick in the hospital for a week. It was horrible. I couldn't keep anything down. Couldn't eat. They had to put in a feeding tube. I actually lost 20 pounds. Which might be a good thing b/cuz i wanted to loose 30 pounds. Just need 10 more to go, right? But okay..next time i'll go with my Husband to see where they got the meat, make sure it's not dirty. and make sure they are cooked well. I'm kind of scared to eat at BBQ's now.
