In my opinion, I think it would suck for a remake definitely. Now for a sequel, I think it would be kind of cool if he used the old 1982 technology and avoided comuter generated imagery. Also it would be cool to reunite Elliot, Gertie, and Michael when they're all grown up with E.T. I read somewhere on the internet that Spielberg and Drew Barrymore are secretly talking about a sequel. Is this true? let me know and thanks.
First of all I think your question about Spielberg and Barrymore was answered and I don't know the answer myself. But I wanted to respond that I think it would be a cool sequel to find the grown kids and ET together. I would hate a remake and I agree with you that a sequel should not have computer generated imagery which would be very fake against what we remember ET being like. But it would be a sequel in the best sense of the word: a continuation of the story, not just another movie designed to make money. Remember that all through his career, good and bad, Spielberg has never repeated himself except for Raiders and I think of Lucas being at least as responsible as Spielberg for the success of that great film and the diminishing quality of the three sequels.

He could make things float and fly and could make his finger glow. Was he from the galaxy of the Jedi?
Its possible. He was from the same galaxy and you can actually spot his race during Episode 1. A scene in the senate, when the camera pans around to all the representatives from different star systems, ETs race is there.
Basically, was it shown on TV before being released on VHS in 1988? I have to settle something with a cousin.
E.T. was released on video in the fall of 1988. It first appeared on TV the following Thanksgiving (1989) I don't remember which network, it was either NBC or CBS. Movies of that caliber never ever appear on TV before they are released on video.
I can't find very much information at all. I have, however, found this picture...http://www.gasolinealleyantiques.com/cel ebrity/images/Movie/pb-et-dog.JPG I think that's the dog you may be talking about. From what I can see, it looks very much like a Collie....http://www.kennels.co.uk/images/P.RoughC ollie.jpg
I had a Super Tuff Burner when I was a kid and most of my mates had Burners. The first mate to get one though got a great red and white Burner which I'm sure was an ET Burner, based on the film.
I don't know why but I seem to remember it didn't have any special gear on it really, just it looked good, and that it was about £80 whereas my Super Tuff was about £130.
Can anyone confirm that such a bike did exist and if possible point me to a picture of it or some information about it?
Thanks. I'm sure this was a Burner. Maybe that's the cheap kids bike you're thinking of. I'm sure my mate didn't have a Kuwahara because I would have died with jealousy!
I've slept on it and I'm starting to think you may be right. Maybe it was a Kuwahara. Funny how I've been sure all these years it was a Burner. Very grateful you've cleared that up for me!
the bike in ET was a Kuwahara. Kuwahara did make a special edition with the same paint job, but in limited production. there was also a cheapo kids bike done up in a similar paint scheme, with ET graphics.
