How can I attach netting onto a mini top hat, and how can I attach it to my head?
02_3

I'm going to be a burlesque/moulin rouge girl for Halloween, and I bought a mini top hat to wear. I want to attach netting to it to cover the face, and I'm also wondering how to attach the hat to my head since the hat is pretty small. The hat is made of felt. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

1.Netting can be attached by sewing. Do a whip stitch and gather the netting so that it looks full, or has the fullness you desire. (Use a large needle that will go through felt)
2.You might want to attach it with hot glue. (The strongest hold, will be through sewing)
3.Attaching to your hair
a) With bobby pins you will need to attach one through the netting, then with a second bobby pin cross over the first one.
This makes a very firm hold. You will need to do this on each side and at least once in the middle.
b)You could attach very tiny loops onto the hat, at the crown area. Then you would do the bobby pin cross over technique.(it really works)
c) I think since this hat is felt you could make slits (very small) then in the slit you would do the bobby pin cross over to attach the hat to your hair. You would want 3, one on each side and one in the middle. If that doesn't balance well, then make one more.

Try a couple of them and see which is best for you.

Good luck with this project, I really think it will work great!!

Where can I have an antique collapsible top hat appraised and possibly repaired?
Monster High Cute Draculaura

My father has had this collapsible silk top hat, also known as an opera hat, for as long as I can remember. He has passed away and the hat is now in my possession. The stitching to the lining and the band have become to unravel. I can't seem to find much info on my hat. Can anyone help?

Would wearing my top hat at an acute angle have the desired effect on the ladies?
Mademoiselle A

I remember as a boy nanny would say that seeing a gentleman wearing a top hat at a jaunty angle would give her the vapours. I'm toying with the idea of wearing my top hat at an angle of between 25-35degrees at shin dig this weekend, obviously anymore than 35degrees would be grossly irresponsible. Can I expect a lot of female attention with this exotic use of a top hat.

Oh Rotter my dear, you need to think of the consequences. The jaunty angle of your hat added to your magnetic personality, debonair looks and suggested dangerousness would be a lethal combination for the ladies. You'd be combing fillies out of your moustache all day. Why you've already caused Mrs Minger to experience a certain dampness in the nether regions. Are you truly prepared for the attention darling? Precede any such action with a preparation of vitamins and er...little blue pills. Amuse-toi mon cher.

How should I ask my cat to not wear a top hat in public?
Vintage Stock Theatre

My cat has taken on the affectation of wearing a top hat and monocle in public. I'm worried the other cats will think he's stuck up. How can I tell him without hurting his feelings he does not take criticism well; one time I told him his litter box smelled and he didn't talk to me for a week.
Also, he communicates telepathically. The dog questions his sexuallity. I told him it's none of our business.

You can explain to him that the other cats will view him as an "elitist" when he dresses in such attire.
I agree with Cat Lady, who suggested a baseball cap---the Detroit Tigers, of course :)

How do I attach a veil to a top hat?
58/365 Finally! On the right track,

I want to wear a top hat with a veil for Halloween. I bought the top hat and the veil material, but I can't figure out how to attach it. I want it to look moderately Edwardian and I want the veil to be tighter to the hat straight across the middle of my face (not long and flowing like a bridal veil.) How do i attach it? At the back where I'll put a flower and a ribbon? Help!

try hot glue, that's the fastest, figure out where and mark the spot add the glue. Or you can use Elmers or Ailnes Fabric glue

Hope this helps
