I just purchased the book Trainspotting..Im 20 years old and I find the book extremley hard to read..even after reading the glossary..any suggestions..I really want to read it , it looks very good..any help would be appreciated..thanks guys
I guess its just the way that they talk..I dont understand anything at all..maybe if someone can just give me a brief summary of the book ill have an easier time following it
You could get a summary by maybe checking the imdb listing for the movie. I've never read the book either but based on the movie I did try to read Filth. Boy, I've never put a book down so happily. I think I made it a couple of chapter. But, yeah, the language in his writing can be rough - maybe if you try reading it out loud with as heavy a Scottish brogue as you can manage will help. Even if all you do is do it for a few paragraphs it might get the voices working right in your head (and sometimes the phoneticized word is just difficult to piece back together from the letters, you just have to hear yourself saying it).
Good luck.
How does the book Trainspotting by Ivrine Welsh compare to the film Trainspotting?
Are they very similar?
Are there many differences??
Thank you so much.
The story line is essentially the same (unlike fightclub, where the entire ending is changed, as well as how the two main characters meet). The book gives a lot more character development, and there are characters in the book that don't make it into the movie. The book is also written in scottish dialect, which can be a bit annoying to read. All in all I think it's a really good adaptation
I'm interested in the story of Trainspotting(the film), I'm an aspiring screen writer so I thought maybe the screenplay would be a better read. It's on amazon for like 2.25 or something like that. Or should I just go with the novel? which may or may not be available at my library.
the book is good...that is reason enough to read it. if you're interested in screenplay writing then you should read both to gain an understanding of how to adapt materials to film...the book is different from the movie.
I heard this song whilst watching the film trainspotting. It starts playing when renton is cold turkeying locked in his mum and dads house after coming out of hospital. He is halucinating whilst lying on a bed.
Any one know the artist and song title I have been trying to find it everywhere?
Born Slippy - Underworld?
You could go to Amazon and listen to the samples: http://www.amazon.com/Trainspotting-Moti on-Picture-Various-Artists/dp/B000002U3P
You should be able to recognize the song you are looking for.
Hi, i need to find the opening monologue to the film Trainspotting, its the Ewen McGregor "choose life" section - however i need it without music. Just wondered if anybody knew of a website where i could find it.
Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television. Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers... choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked-up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? (Trainspotting, opening monologue)
