ok i know the scenes are out of order-ish but could you please explain the correct order of things in pulp fiction when butch shoots vincent when he finds him in his apartment, and then at the end of the movie, vincent and jules are at the restaurant. because after butch shoots vincent, he gets in the fight with marcellus...its a bit confusing.
Here it is...Jules and Vincent kill the punks in the apartment and take the case, Vincent accidentally shoots guy in the back seat of the car and have to get cleaned up (enter Harvey Keitel), Jules and Vincent, now clean, go to the diner and have the run-in with the robbers, Jules and Vincent take the case to Marcelus, and Vincent calls Butch "palooka", Butch doesn't throw the fight like he told Marcelus he would, Marcelus sends Vincent to Butch's apartment to kill him, Butch kills Vincent instead, Butch and Marcelus wind up in the perverts' basement, Butch rescues Marcelus, and Marcelus lets Butch off the hook. :-)
Pulp Fiction Trailer
How violent is goodfellas ive seen movies like pulp fiction, saving private ryan and braveheart.
Goodfellas by a long shot. Especially considering its based on a true story.
I read this online, "What the film may be most renowned for, however, is its focus on highly stylized modes of speech. Tarantino elicits vivid responses from his audiences by incorporating ordinary banter about ubiquitous popular culture subject matters," and am wondering if anyone has any specific examples from pulp fiction. Thanks!
"does marsellus wallace look like a bitch!?"
the whole conversation about the royale with cheese, french fries and mayo, etc.
it's kind of hard to point of specific examples of this because this is someone's style of speech so it includes everything they say. in order to properly understand what the author of that passage is trying to say, i think it's best to observe and compare and contrast some of the character's speech. some of these characters include sam jackson's character, uma thurman's character, and ving rhame's character. they all have their own specific way of speaking and communicating a message. if you hold up one characters' dialogue to another you will see what i'm talking about
Why is Pulp Fiction one of the most discussed movies ever...what makes it so significant and what is its impact on modern movies?
One thing is that it's just such a superior story, a well-crafted script from beginning to end. Basically it's four short stories. Tarantino and Roger Avery tell the stories as though they were one big story. The stories are told out of order and this makes them seem more complex than they really are. But one other reason for telling them in short story style is that Tarantino understands so well to end the story at its climax and then start another. He doesn't linger at all on one. He leaves us wanting more. I admit when Travolta and Thurman's story was over and the movie took a twist, it threw me the first time but I recognize it now as great story-telling.
The dialogue is the best I've ever heard in a movie maybe-I do mean ever.
You know if you end the story where it should have ended chronologically with Willis and de Medeiros riding off literally into the sunset it somehow loses its power. This way Tarantino instead kills the Travolta character and still has him walk off into well the sunup.
Probably the writing is what is best about the story, but the photography and esp the editing are excellent. The acting from Keitel and Thurman but esp Travolta, Jackson and Willis are exceptional.
I just watched Pulp Fiction, and now I really really want to know what was in the briefcase. Has the writer (Quentin Tarantino) ever revealed what was in the briefcase in an interview, or in another film?
If so then please tell me what was in the briefcase, or tell me the name of the film that he revealed it in.
Thanks.
He has never revealed what's in the case. If I remember correctly, He did make a little joke during the promotion of Grindhouse, just when he is about to reveal it, the movie reel comes up missing in true Grindhouse-style...He always said he used it just as a prop to perpetuate the story and it's content is insignificant to the story...Still with the orange gold-like glow my best bet is a shitload of gold or some experimental drug or something. Allthough a lot of fans stick with the Marcellus' soul story, this has never been confirmed or denied by Tarantino
