I have been on psycotropic drugs myself. I can assure you that I have never tried to stab, shoot or otherwise hurt anyone. Not to say the guy above isan't telling a true story. I was just more inclined to hurt myself than others. Perhaps the girl in his story had more going on than just psycotropic medications.

A Woman Under the Influence, was originally written by John Cassavettes as a play, but Rowlands convinced him it would be too draining on the characters to perform such powerful material night after night. Emerald was not in the movie but played a large part in Gena Rowlands life as her biological son! He is indeed the illegitimate son of Rowlands and James Doohan (Scotty from Star Trek fame). Before he was Scotty, Doohan had a thriving limousine service, where he initially met the gorgeous Gena. Apparently they met again at a party being thrown by Paramount for the release of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" in 1979, and briefly renewed their torrid affair. Rory's early escapades involving drugs, alcoholism and a brief stay in an Orange County mental rehabilitation center, are considered a loose basis for the character of the son.
