they released it in theaters as grindhouse. but why did the dvds come out separately that was gay, if they wanted to see what earned more money it would make sense to release in theaters separately then put the dvd out together im hoping on the 20 th anniversary or something grindhouse comes out as a dvd your opinion
Yeah it was a pretty stupid move on their part it should have been released the way it was in theaters. What really sucks is they did not include all the spoof movie trailors. Rob Zombie had stated he would like to do a movie that was one of the spoofs I think it was the SS Werewolf one.
grindhouse (n): A theater playing back-to-back movies exploiting sex, violence and other extreme subject matter. DEATH PROOF For Austin's ...
What are some great midnight movies to show to friends, in the vain of Death Race 2000, Cannibal holocaust, and what have you.
Real Exploitation/Grindhouse stuff, ya know?
Death Proof is a classic.
I'm being serious. I'm getting a grindhouse idea, but I need your views: if you were to read any grindhouse product, would it be a graphic novel or would it be a normal novel.
Graphic novel. Although a novel can serve the needs of a grindhouse project--see the novel adaptation of Escape from New York--a graphic novel is perfect for lurid and shocking imagery that goes for the throat.
Most people don't know the definitions of Exploitation, Horror, Scary and Grindhouse film.
Do you?

Grindhouse movies are essentially a catch-all phrase for any horror, scary, exploitation movies that were released in the 60's and 70's.
The term Grindhouse actually came from the type of theaters that used to show these movies in the 1960's and 1970's. 42nd Street in NY is one of the classic Grindhouse movie palaces, they would show films that the regular "mainstream" theaters wouldn't dare show. The films would be art films with explicit nudity or violence, horror films w/ excessive violence like Blood Feast etc, exploitation movies like Dolemite, Dr Black & Mr. Hyde as well as porno movies or roughies as they were known back then, like Forced Entry, Deep Throat etc...
Usually these theaters were in the "rougher" parts of town as well and were frequented by the trench coat set, people didn't want to be noticed when they went into these places due to the types of films that the theaters would show.
Usually they would run the movies for a bargain price but they would be everything from nudie flicks filmed in Florida all the way to excessive gore and exploitation movies, it just really depended what was on the bill that week.
Since the mainstream theaters wouldn't show these types of movies these movie houses would pick up these films and since they had content that the mainstream audience wasn't ready for, they called them grindhouse movies.
Exploitation films are simply there to exploit a certain gender or race by largely mocking them. For example, Dolemite was considered a classic black exploitation movie because it featured the black man getting back at the white run world. It primarily played to a black audience but it exploited the black race as well by stereotyping them into pimps and ho's and not being able to hold down a real job unless they were crooked.
The idea of exploitation movies is to get an initial shock from one audience and make another audience upset so that by word of mouth the movies would become popular. It was more of a marketing ploy than anything else and most exploitation movies are done cheaply and can't afford the advertising of the large mainstream features.
Horror and scary are truly the same type of movie, I suppose some people separate them though and consider horror movies to be the more violent styles of suspense films while scary films do not show the blood as much and they rely more on suspense. They are really synonymous but some people do not like blood and guts so they try to separate the types of movies that they like by saying they like scary and not horror. There really is no difference but that's the reason for the division.
Some think that if you say you are a fan of scary movies that's ok but if you say your a horror fan then that is to be taken as someone that needs some psychological help. Whatever, it's just a preferred style of film to some, like me.
I used to have a collection of grindhouse movies but they got lost/stolen while moving and don't know where to get more. I am reffering to just any type of exploitation movie, does not have to be a double feature. Thanks, and I look forward to the answers.

Good Luck!!!
