Hey Spartacus here! My favorite section is Singles & Dating, mostly because I get a good laugh once and awhile, but anyways on to my question! I now have 500+ points, and I was wondering how many people here have seen my answers? (Mostly in Singles & Dating) What question did you see my answer on? Was it a good answer? Was I contributing to Y! Answers? Was my answer appropriate? I am going for "Top Contributer" in the Singles & Dating category, Congratz though to "sophiesmom" (Sorry if its wrong) for being the best! And if you answer this thanks! (On a side note, what do you think I could do to improve my answers?)

And yes I did post this twice, once in Y! Answers, and once in Singles & Dating. I plan to do it again once I reach 1,000+ points!

I've seen you around before... although I mainly recognize you because of your avatar and name; they're kind of unique.

How did Spartacus and his uprising affect Rome?
My Madone, Madison, WI

I have to write an essay on this, and i need three ways Spartacus impacted Rome either during or after his uprising. If possible, please show source. (No wikipedia)

died 71 BC

leader in the Gladiatorial War (73–71) against Rome.

A Thracian by birth, Spartacus served in the Roman Army, perhaps deserted, led bandit raids, and was caught and sold as a slave. With about 70 fellow gladiators he escaped a gladiatorial training school at Capua in 73 and took refuge on Mount Vesuvius, where other runaway slaves joined the band. After defeating two Roman forces in succession, the rebels overran most of southern Italy. Ultimately their numbers grew to at least 90,000. Spartacus defeated the two consuls for the year 72 and fought his way northward toward the Alps, hoping to be able to disperse his soldiers to their homelands once they were outside Italy. When his men refused to leave Italy, he returned to Lucania and sought to cross his forces over to Sicily but was thwarted by the new Roman commander sent against him, Marcus Licinius Crassus. Hemmed in by Crassus' eight legions, Spartacus' army divided; the Gauls and Germans were defeated first, and Spartacus himself ultimately fell fighting in pitched battle. Pompey's army intercepted and killed many slaves who were escaping northward, and 6,000 prisoners were crucified by Crassus along the Appian Way.

Spartacus was apparently both competent and humane, although the revolt he led inspired terror throughout Italy. Although his uprising was not an attempt at social revolution, his name has frequently been invoked by revolutionaries such as Adam Weishaupt in the late 18th century and Karl Liebknecht, Rosa Luxemburg, and the other members of the German Spartacus League of 1916–19.

did Spartacus have a son? did Spartacus actually die in the battle?
My Madone, Madison, WI

I was watching Spartacus movie on history channel. We know how hollywood gets creative.. did he have a son? Did anyone actually report that Spartacus was crucified other than his army was crucified? I would guess that people would make a huge deal of crucifing a slave leader but the Romans didnt say antyhing other than "6,000 Spartacus'soldiers were crucified" They hushed it.
i know that his body was never found..that is why i am saying that he escaped because he never meant to stay that long in Roman Empire.

Spartacus' body was never found

Why did Spartacus start his revolt?
My Madone, Madison, WI

Boudicca's revolt was started due to personal reasons about the Romans taking away her land and flogging her and her daughters in public. What were Spartacus' major reasons for beginning his revolt?
Thought so - could he have wanted revenge on his master and the owner of the gladiatorial school, Lentulus Batiates? Or was his revolt solely for the purpose of freedom?

He and his compatriots were being held as slaves by the Romans and forced to fight in the gladiator arenas for the amusement of the Romans.

I believe his ultimate goal was to free as many slaves as possible, then return to his home country of Thrace and live as a free man, but I'm sure his revenge was sweet while it lasted.
