Today I purchased the book Shake Hands with the Devil by Romeo Dallaire. For those of you who don't know, it's an auto-biography written by Canadian Romeo Dallaire about his time in Rwanda during the early 1990s and his struggle since.
Has anyone read this book? I've heard great critical reviews of it but don't know anyone who's read it. I can't wait to start reading it but would love any opinions!
Also, if you've read anything else with a similar topic (Rwanda or genocide in general) that you can recommend, that would be great as well. Thanks!
The book is a fantastic read and I think should be put into manditoy reading for High Schools.
My book club read this and everyone thought it was great. You must be prepared for how disturbing the book is though. Everyone I know who has read this book has cried while reading it regardless of where they were. I cried on the subway and someone actually came over and asked if I was OK.
He writes so well about the whole situation. From the political atmosphere in the country to the individuals invovled.
The number of other books written on this subject are imense. They are written from everyones point of view and every vantage point. The best idea would be to go to amazon or barnes and noble or chapters and check out all of their listings.

Hey everyone,
I watched Shake Hands with the Devil, the journey of Romeo Dallaire on CBC Earlier this year. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could watch it, online or buy the documentary in stores? They only have the first 5 mins or so on youtube.

Insofaras "shake hands with" means "greet", "to shake hands with the devil" would be "Salutare diabolum" in Latin.
"Shaking hands with the devil" would be "Salutans diabolum".
You could substitute "daemonem" for "diabolum".
I watched all the movies about him

How do I become a UN peace keeper
