in the book "the bridge over the river kwai" the bridge gets destroyed in the end by britishers. Did that happen for real or did Pierre boulle just use his imagination on this part?
Actually the bridge described by Boule never existed. The bridge described in the book doesn't actually cross the River Kwai. Pierre Boulle had never been to the bridge. He knew that the 'death railway' ran parallel to the River Kwae for many miles, and he therefore assumed that it was the Kwae which it crossed just North of Kanchanaburi. This was an incorrect assumption; the bridge actually crosses the Mae Khlung river. so no, it was never destroyed as it never existed.

Because of the stars on the question and the number and variety of answers I will let the voters deside this one. I lose 3 points but would rather have a vote for best answer here.
"The Trooper" Iron Maiden
It must have made some chart, somewhere.

Awful bit of acting by Alec Guiness and the drag POW's.
everyone has their own opinion. I respect yours cause you atleast gave your reasons why you thought it was bad. but i honestly thought it was a good war movie.
i need chords for the tune that they whistle while marching.
It's a march named "Colonel Bogey" by Kenneth Alford (a pseudonym for Lieutenant F. J. Ricketts) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonel_Bog ey adapted by Malcolm Arnold for the film. In this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2fpnwV6p wg the theme sounds like it's in the key of C, although, from memory, the original is in Db (going to Gb in the trio section).
Anyhow, this will get you started:
C / / / C / / / C / / / C / / /
C / / / C / / / C / / / G7 / / /
G7 / / / G7 / / / C / / / C / C#° /
G/D* / / / D7 / / / G / / / G7 / / /
C / / / C / / / C / / / C / / /
C / / / C / / / C / / / G7 / / /
G7 / / / G7 / / / C / / / C / / /
F6 / / / G7 / / / C / / / C - - -
C#° = C# diminished 7th (ie: the notes C#, E, G, Bb)
G/D* = G with a D bass
