I've been working on this aplit paper for days and I can't seem to grab the right topic to get this paper going. This paper is basically to find the common grounds (theme, character development..) in three works; mine are:
Cinema: North by Northwest directed by Alfred Hitchcock
Stage: The Crucible by Arthur Miller
Novel: The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien
Apparently, all three of these revolve around the word "mettle".. but I just.. don't see it. Help?
It isn't considered the best by everyone; indeed, I think most scholars these days prefer various other: Vertigo, Psycho, Strangers on a Train, or others. There is no consensus.
Those that love North By Northwest (including myself) like the pure bravura storytelling. In some ways it is less suspensful than, say, Notorious, but the sheer outrageous fun of such scenes as the unexplained attack by the crop duster, the auction scene, or the battle on the nose of Mount Rushmore endear it to critics who don't care much for plausibility. Many critics also respond to the theme of the anonymous everyman who, when mistaken for a spy, rises to the occasion with aplomb. Others like the way the main character is used by both sides of the battle -- the US government does not act terribly much better than the "bad guys." Lastly, it is the movie in which Hitchcock discovered the full extent that Cary Grant's light comedy skills could be applied to something other than pure light comedy. It out-Bonds James Bonds.
Because Alfred Hitchcock is a genius. He wanted a landmark that people were familiar with and had a basic idea of the scale, i.e. huge, so the viewers would understand the danger. It was also a challenge to recreate Mount Rushmore on a sound stage to shoot the scene.

What are the general temperatures if the wind direction is from the north/northwest?_______
What are the general temperatures if the wind direction is from the south/southeast?
It depends where you live... Northern Hemisphere, Southern Hemisphere, on the coast, in the desert, in the mountains.
For example, if you live on the west coast of the USA and there is a north-westerly breeze, it' going to be cooler than if there is a south-easterly breeze. Why? Because the wind coming off the ocean will be cooler than the wind coming off the desert.
Films are rarely entered in just one genre catagory.
