How to remove linoleum cove baseboard but not the linolleum flooring?
Deep Cove

We want to leave the not too bad linoleum floor to tile over, but want to get rid of the cove baseboard. How is this doen?

Thx
Maybe my terminology is off. The linoleum curves at the wall and goes up the wall maybe 3 to 4 inches. Their is a wood piece that helps the linoleum make the 90 deg turn at the floor/wall junction. The baseboard is not the stuff that comes in a roll and glued on.

Since it s flashed up the wall and it curves a bit use a 1x board as a guide to cut a straight lineup off the floor a bit. A hook knife works good for this.. Can be bought at any box store.Once you ve cut thru the lino you should be able to press the lino down flat as long as there isn t globs of glue built up at the curve. Score the dry wall on top the lino just enough to go thru the paper. This layer of paper will most likely come off when you pull the lino off the wall A putty knife slid behind lino to help pull it apart.New base of something taller than what you have now is next step .. will plants designed for manmade ponds work in my cove?
The Black Bear Pub

I live on a cove, on a river in Maine. It is shallow (4 ft at its center) and about as big as a hockey rink. lilly pads bloom all summer in it, i'm wondering if i can intrduce storebought flowering water plants to it. it is well circulated with lots of wildlife in it. Any suggestions?

Of course you can. I would stick with natives and realize that the plants will grow at the edges of your cove and most likely will not venture past about the first foot of water. Since I am in a subtropical climate, I don't know what is hardy up there, but any native that likes wet feet will grow for you. I know that cattails will, for one. Check with a local aquatic nursery or online for hardy plants.

How can I kill grass in a dry lake cove?
The Black Bear Pub

My house is on a cove at the lake. With the drought, the lake in front of my house dried out. It's a meadow now. How can I kill the grass (about 3 feet tall) before the rains fill up the lake again? The lake is a city water supply. The area I'm talking about is about 120' long by 20 feet wide. When the lake is full again, I would like for the lake bottom in front of my house to be sandy, not grassy..so swimming will be better.

It sounds like you don't want to use the chemical option. So here is a more difficult method.

Cut the grass down as low as possible and remove the clippings. If the grass is dry, you can burn the remaining grass.

Then after the grass is completely extinguished and cool, cover it with black plastic. You can take advantage of the local sand to hold it in place. Leave the plastic covering for as long as you can. This will deprive the grass of light and it's ability to grow.

Where could i book in advance cheap tickets for Discovery Cove in Orlando?
The Black Bear Pub

I'm planning to go to Orlando next year. I've done my booking through Virgin Holidays. Although Virgin sell tickets for discovery cove online they are extremely expensive. Do i get any perks buying it through them, or should i buy them from another site?
