Warner Brothers released the Screen play in 1948. It has been passed around quite a bit since, but is probably still in the Warner Brothers catalog.
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) Trailer www.imdb.com Director: John Huston Humphrey Bogart, Walter Huston, Tim Holt, Bruce Bennett, Barton ...
Points to answerer number two: it was Alfonso Bedoya.
And I believe the whole correct exchange is:
Gold Hat (the bandit): We are the federales. You know, the mounted police.
Dobbs (Bogart): if you're the police, where are your badges:?
Gold Hat: Badges? We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you no stinking badges!
ADDENDUM: While shkspr's answer is pretty hilarious--and a great reminder of the scene in "Blazing Saddles"--he's of course joking with you..."matches" had nothing to do with it...!
there is an instrumental version on buddy clark's album, linda.

Hi, I'd like to expand my list of favorite movies, but I'm very picky. Some of my favorite films are "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, Sergeant York, Ben Hur, and Hamlet (Olivier version.)" I really like stories with unique characters, an adventure or historical backdrop, and big thematic content with a powerful moral or message to the story. I also like small town comedies with a lot of eccentric characters like the great film "Whisky Galore." Anyone know other films to suit my taste?
