Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid - Last Scene from Classic Movie
I thought brad pitt would be a good sundance kid
Any special meaning about:
"Don't ever hit your mother with a shovel! It leaves a dull impression on her mind!"
It's from Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid, but I don't really get what that means...
Its meant to be funny. In fact the whole script is really very funny. William Goldman is a very talented script writer, up ther with Neil SImon, I'd say.
There is no special meaning to it, its just clever.
I know that they had to face there deaths in the end but I just don't really see how death was an important theme.. I'm supposed to write an essay on it. How death is a theme of the movie and the symbolism used to suggest death.
Can someone please enlighten me?
Much appreciated. =D
You don't have to agree with an idea or argument to embrace it. One could just as easily argue that Butch and Sundance were full of life and lived life to the fullest until their bitter end. Watch the film again and look for things that would support death as a theme. Clear your mind of your own views and try to see things that support the theme of your essay. One could argue that the two trackers, Lord Baltimore and the Indian tracker, and Joe Lefors, represent death. When Butch and Sundance guess who has been hired to track them, they are so scared, they look like they've seen a ghost. Leflour and his partner Lord Baltimore track the two outlaws relentlessly. They are amazed at the skill of trackers, who stalk them like death itself and cannot be shaken. Leflor wheres a white straw hat. The color white is often used to symbolize death. Angels are white, ghosts are white, because white is a pale lifeless, bloodless color. We learn that the two trackers were in fact, payed to kill them. They are forced to leave the country, but are unable to escape death the unstoppable force of death, which finds them once again in the guise of the Bolivian cavalry. That's just one way to see it. Watch it again and look for your own evidence of the death theme
I need the script and I'm having trouble finding a copy. It stars Paul newman and Robert Redford and premiered in 1969 if that helps at all.
